Video does it Best

One word. Video. I know I’ve been away from the blogosphere for a little while – so I should have more than one word right? Sorry it has been a busy place here between the company and teaching and…then there’s the son in college app mode this year! Clients and recent research point the extraordinary value of video. And the real takeawy from this post is that the demographics now cross all age barriors. I recommend reading one of the recent research projects at Pew Internet (one of my favorite sources). They found that “Online video viewing has grown across all age groups.” In fact, 67% of the 30-49 year old crowd and 41% of the 50-64 year old group are regular viewers. You can read the full article here. And it is no surprise that video sharing sights have the lion’s share in this research. We can all thank YouTube for that. But it is also mainstream now to expect that most websites offer (or should) some type of video, flash or interactive experience. Of course, everyone is all about social media in terms of marketing and PR tactics right now, which is not a bad thing. But I can tell you unequivocally that video is very powerful. And if the online video is produced well, it is very effective, not just for branding and exposure, but also for revenue generation. And at the end of the day, that’s what counts.
