A fine group in Gloucester, Massachusetts – a famous fishing port where the movie, The Perfect Storm was filmed (we called that storm the No Name storm) – invited me to speak at The Gloucester House to a group of small business owners making their way through this economic storm. It was a great event – wonderful people with engaging questions about how to market with few dollars and how to pick the new media that works for individual businesses. I have since spoken to many of those in the crowd personally and I thank them all for making it a great (and hopefully productive) morning for us all. Thanks also to Gloucester Daily Times, in conjunction with the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce and Suffolk University’s Sawyer Business School for hosting the second in a series, called Weathering The Storm.
Recently I was lucky to be asked to speak to a breakfast gathering of small businesses north of Boston, in a series of seminars called Weathering The Storm. It was sponsored by the North of Boston Media Group, Suffolk University, The Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce and the first of a series of regional seminars for small businesses. Of course, they asked me to speak about new media. Read more in the Eagle-Tribune article. The seminars, aimed at helping small biz through hard economic times, are a success and now are going to several other metro Boston regions next.
The Boston Business Journal publishes profiles of small biz people from time to time and I was fortunate to be interviewed by reporter Lisa van der Pool for this past edition. She did a nice job with some interesting and often tough questions! The feature is called Outside The Box. I guess I’ve always been a little ‘outside the box.’
